Back in July, we went to a local market in Stallarholmen, about an hour outside of Stockholm. In one of the stalls I found this amazingly soft and shiny yarn, of 70% mohair and 30% silk. A pretty unusal yarn in the sense that it was 300 m/100g in this combo – usually you get this type of blend in a much thinner version!
I was drawn to this truly gorgeous blue colour and instantly knew it was meant to be a shawl for my mum, who is not only a true fan of the colour blue, but also the most ridiculously sensitive to anything woolly and won’t even wear merino – but this blend was so soft it felt like it was pouring through my hands!
It took some time, but my mum finally got her shawl for Christmas. It features a lovely simple heart pattern and is knit bottom up.
Unfortunately, the mohair/silk yarn turned out to be impossible to find something similar to, for the pattern. So I ended up pairing up with Organic Knitters and had it knit in their lovely Cheeky Merino Joy (from Rosy Green Wool) which turned out beautifully!
